Early Interventionist
The Early Interventionist provides in-home direct services and interventions to high-risk (medically fragile), developmentally delayed, and/or infants and toddlers with a disability and their families. They will meet with each child and family, as specified by the service agreement, to provide parent education training and early intervention services accordingly with the IFSP goals. They will assists family in identifying the parents’ concerns, priorities and resources; works cooperatively with community agencies in coordination and delivery of services; provides ongoing assessment of child’s progress and IFSP outcomes; maintains documentation on progress made for each child. Program Supervisor will assist with identification of recommendations for outcomes and/or services. Interventionist will provides parent education related to child’s needs.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor Degree or higher in early childhood development, special education, or human service and applicable work experience working in an early childhood program serving infants and toddlers and their parents and families.
MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate Degree or the equivalent in Early Childhood Education or related field and applicable work experience in early childhood education or human services or
High School Diploma or General Education Degree with at least two years of experience working in an early childhood program serving infants and toddlers and their parents and families. Other combinations of applicable education, training and experience that provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Must have (or be willing to obtain) training and experience necessary to develop supportive relationships with very young children, knowledge of typical and atypical child development; knowledge of developmental theories; knowledge of California Early Start programs and services for infants and toddlers with disabilities; knowledge of community resources.
Must be able to do the following:
Establish rapport and to respect the unique identity of children and families enrolled in the program. Communicate effectively with infants, toddlers, their parents, and other staff. Demonstrate skills to properly address developmental needs of infants and toddlers. Conduct and document developmental screenings and assessments of children. Maintain effective, working relationships with children, parents, and staff.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver’s license and fully insured vehicle to provide own transportation to home visits.
Documentation of a negative tuberculosis test and MMR.
Infant CPR and First Aid.
Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
